Will I be charged for damage or cleaning?

You may be charged if your room is not returned in the required condition when you move out. Scape will allow for fair wear and tear, which means normal signs of everyday use, but cleaning, damage, missing items or excessive marks may lead to deductions from your deposit.

Charges may apply for things like:

  • Professional cleaning if your room, bathroom or kitchen area is not cleaned properly.
  • Damage to furniture, fittings, walls, flooring, appliances or provided items.
  • Stains on mattresses, carpets, chairs or other upholstery.
  • Missing items or access devices.
  • Rubbish, food or personal belongings left behind.

If the cost of cleaning or repairs is less than your deposit, the relevant amount may be deducted and the remaining balance returned. If the cost is more than your deposit, you may be billed for the difference.

To help avoid charges, clean your room thoroughly, remove everything you brought with you and attend a pre-checkout inspection where available. If you’re unsure what standard is expected, speak to reception before your End Date.
