When does my contract become legally binding?
Your booking becomes binding before your tenancy actually starts. Once Scape has sent your Booking Confirmation, you have a binding booking with us.
Your Residence Agreement then takes effect as a tenancy on your contract Start Date, as long as all required conditions have been met. This includes things like completing the booking steps, making the required payments and providing any documents needed for check-in.
What this means in practice
- Signing alone does not create the tenancy: the Residence Agreement takes effect on the Start Date once the required conditions are met.
- Your booking is confirmed by email: your room is secured when the initial payment has cleared and Scape has sent your Booking Confirmation.
- Your contract dates matter: your rent and responsibilities are linked to the dates shown in your agreement.
- You should read everything before signing: your Residence Agreement is an important legal document.
If you are unsure whether your booking is confirmed or when your agreement starts, check your Scape account and Booking Confirmation email. You can also contact the Scape team before making any changes or travel plans.
