What happens if the student misses a payment?
If a student misses a payment, Scape will contact the student directly to let them know what has happened and what they need to do next.
The accommodation contract is between Scape and the student, so parents, guardians and trusted people are not automatically responsible for missed payments. There is no guarantor liability unless Scape has specifically agreed something different in writing.
How you can help
- Ask the student to check their Scape portal for payment details and any outstanding balance.
- Help the student make a payment through their portal, with their permission.
- Encourage the student to contact the Scape team as soon as possible if they are worried about paying.
A parent, guardian or trusted person can use a card in their own name to make a payment through the student’s Scape portal, as long as the student has shared access or is present to complete the payment.
If there has been a genuine mistake, or the student needs help understanding their payment schedule, the student should contact the Scape team directly. The sooner they get in touch, the easier it is for the team to support them.
