What fire safety equipment is in my room or building?

Scape buildings are fitted with fire safety equipment to help protect residents, guests and the team. The exact layout may vary by building, but you can expect fire safety measures throughout the residence.

Fire safety equipment may include:

  • Smoke detectors in bedrooms, corridors and communal areas.
  • Heat detectors in kitchen areas.
  • Fire extinguishers in communal areas.
  • Fire blankets in kitchen areas.
  • Fire doors throughout the building to help slow the spread of fire and smoke.
  • Emergency lighting to support safe evacuation routes.

Please do not cover, remove, prop open or tamper with any fire safety equipment. This includes smoke detectors, fire doors, fire extinguishers, fire blankets and alarm call points. Tampering with fire safety equipment is taken very seriously because it can put everyone in the building at risk.

If you notice damaged, missing or faulty fire safety equipment, report it to reception or through the Scape app straight away. If there is a fire or immediate danger, call 999 and follow the evacuation instructions for your building.
