What does the final inspection involve?

The final inspection is how the Scape team checks your room after you move out. Residence Management will review the condition of your room against the original inventory from when you checked in.

During the inspection, the team will usually check:

  • Whether all personal belongings, food and rubbish have been removed.
  • The cleanliness of your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area, if you have one.
  • The condition of furniture, fittings, appliances, walls, flooring and provided items.
  • Whether anything is missing, damaged or stained.
  • Whether all keys, fobs and access devices have been returned.

Fair wear and tear is taken into account, so normal signs of everyday use are expected. However, damage, missing items, heavy staining, excessive dirt or cleaning needed beyond the expected standard may result in proposed deposit deductions.

If any issues are found, these will be recorded as part of the inspection and handled through the deposit process. To help avoid surprises, book a pre-checkout inspection before your End Date where available and ask reception if you’re unsure what needs attention.
