How much do I need to pay upfront?

The amount you need to pay upfront depends on the building you choose and the type of stay you book.

Initial payment

To secure your room, you’ll need to make an initial payment during checkout. For most Scape buildings, this is equal to 14 days’ rent. For Scape Bloomsbury and Scape King’s Cross, this is equal to 28 days’ rent.

This payment is not an extra charge. It is deducted from your total residence fee, so it counts towards the rent for your stay.

Damage deposit

You’ll also need to pay a damage deposit before check-in. This is separate from your rent and is used to cover damage, cleaning or missing items if needed at the end of your stay.

  • Academic year stays: £400 damage deposit
  • Summer stays: £250 damage deposit

There are no other standard upfront costs. Your rent includes electricity, water, heating and broadband, so you won’t need to arrange separate bills.

If you’re unsure what applies to your booking, check your Scape account or contact the Scape team before completing your payment.
