Can Scape staff provide medical assistance?

Scape team members may be able to provide initial support in a medical situation, but they are not doctors, nurses or paramedics and cannot provide medical treatment.

Many Scape staff are trained in first aid and mental health first aid. This means they can help with immediate, basic support while emergency services are on their way, and they can guide you towards the right next step.

If someone is seriously injured, unwell or in immediate danger, call 999 first. Do not wait to find a member of staff before contacting emergency services. Once you have called 999, let reception know as soon as it is safe so the team can help support the situation and direct emergency services when they arrive.

For non-emergency medical advice, call 111 or use NHS 111 online. You can also speak to reception if you are unsure where to get help.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or worried about your wellbeing, the Scape team can listen, support you and help signpost you to your university, local services or emergency support where needed.
