When and how is my deposit returned?
Your damage deposit is returned after check-out through the Deposit Protection Service, also known as DPS.
When you arrive at Scape, you’ll be asked to register with DPS and provide a valid email address. Make sure you use an email address you can access, as this is where deposit updates and release information will be sent.
How the return works
- Check-out: after you leave, your room is checked for damage, missing items, cleaning needs or outstanding payments.
- Deductions: if any deductions are proposed, you’ll be told what they relate to.
- Deposit release: if there are no disputed deductions, your deposit is usually returned within 28 days.
- Disputes: if you disagree with a deduction, you can follow the DPS process to raise this.
To help your deposit return go smoothly, leave your room clean, remove all belongings and rubbish, return any keys or access cards, and report maintenance issues through the Scape App before moving out.
If you have questions about your deposit, contact your building team or check the deposit information in your Scape account.
