What should I not bring?
To keep everyone safe and comfortable, there are some items you should not bring to Scape. Your room is already fully furnished, so it is best to pack practical essentials and avoid anything that creates a fire, safety or space issue.
Please do not bring
- Candles or open flames: this includes incense, oil burners, shisha and anything with a naked flame.
- Extra cooking appliances: avoid bringing additional hobs, grills, deep fat fryers, pressure cookers or other cooking equipment not provided by Scape.
- High-wattage electrical items: items above the permitted socket capacity, or anything that could overload sockets, should not be used.
- Halogen lamps or portable heaters: these can create a serious fire risk.
- Flammable materials: avoid bringing items that could easily catch fire or block fire safety equipment.
- Weapons or illegal substances: these are not permitted at Scape.
- Large furniture: rooms are fully furnished, so extra large furniture is not practical or permitted.
- Non-fire-retardant bedding: bedding should meet UK fire safety requirements.
If you are unsure whether something is allowed, check your Residence Agreement, Code of Conduct or building handbook before you pack. You can also contact your building team for guidance before bringing anything that may need to be removed later.
