What should I do before arriving in the UK?

Getting organised before you travel will make your move to the UK feel much smoother. Start by checking that your passport and visa are valid, and keep digital and printed copies of your key documents somewhere easy to reach.

Before you travel

  • Check your documents: make sure you have your passport, visa or immigration status, university documents and student ID details ready.
  • Sort your rent payments: set up TransferMate or your preferred payment method so you can pay securely from overseas.
  • Confirm your arrival plans: check your booking details and let your Scape building team know when you expect to arrive.
  • Plan your UK essentials: look into a UK SIM card and consider a digital bank account such as Monzo, Starling or Revolut.
  • Pack smart: bring bedding, towels, kitchen basics, chargers, a travel adaptor and all-weather clothing. If you would rather travel light, you can pre-order bedding and kitchen packs through Scape’s partner Unpacked.
