What happens if my room isn’t cleaned properly?

If your room isn’t cleaned properly before you move out, Scape may need to arrange professional cleaning. The cost of this can be deducted from your deposit, so it’s worth giving your room a proper clean before your check-out inspection.

Your room should be returned in the same condition as when you checked in, allowing for fair wear and tear. This means clearing all belongings, food and rubbish, then cleaning your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area if you have one.

Common areas to check include:

  • Floors, surfaces, desk, shelves and storage.
  • Shower, toilet, sink, mirror and bathroom fittings.
  • Hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, cupboards and worktops.
  • Any stains, marks or spills on furniture, carpets or mattresses.

If cleaning is needed after you leave, the team will record this during the inspection and any proposed charge will be handled through the deposit process.

If you’re not sure what standard is required, speak to reception before your End Date or arrange a pre-checkout inspection. The team can help you understand what needs attention before you hand back your keys.
