What can affect my deposit refund?
Your deposit refund can be affected if there are outstanding costs after you move out. Scape will allow for fair wear and tear, but charges may be proposed if your room is not returned in the required condition.
Things that can affect your refund include:
- Damage to your room, furniture, fittings, appliances or provided items.
- Cleaning costs if your room, bathroom or kitchen area needs professional cleaning.
- Missing room items, keys, fobs or access devices.
- Outstanding rent or unpaid charges.
- Costs linked to a breach of your Residence Agreement.
Any proposed deductions should be itemised, so you can see what has been charged and why. You’ll be notified through the Deposit Protection Service process using the email address registered with your booking.
If you agree with the deductions, the remaining balance can be returned to you. If you disagree, you have the right to raise a dispute through the Deposit Protection Service. To help protect your refund, clean your room well, remove all belongings, return all keys and attend a pre-checkout inspection where available.
