Is my deposit refundable?
Your damage deposit is refundable after check-out, less any agreed deductions. The initial booking payment is different: it is advance rent, so it forms part of your total residence fee and is not refunded separately.
Damage deposit
Your damage deposit is held to cover possible costs at the end of your stay, such as damage, missing items, cleaning charges or outstanding payments. If your room is left in good condition and there are no charges to apply, your deposit can be returned after you move out.
Scape uses the Deposit Protection Service, also known as DPS, for deposits. You’ll be asked to register with DPS and provide a valid email address, so make sure your details are correct.
Advance rent
The initial payment you make when booking is deducted from your total rent. It confirms your booking once cleared, but it is not a separate refundable deposit.
If any deductions are proposed from your damage deposit, you’ll be told what they relate to. If you disagree, follow the DPS process or contact the Scape team for guidance.
