Am I responsible for damage in my room?
Yes, you are responsible for looking after your room and keeping it in the same condition as when you checked in, allowing for fair wear and tear. Fair wear and tear means normal signs of everyday use, not damage caused by accident, misuse or neglect.
What you are responsible for
- Your room and bathroom: keep them clean, tidy and well cared for.
- Furniture and fittings: use items properly and do not remove, alter or damage them.
- Appliances provided by Scape: use them safely and report faults promptly.
- Accidental damage: report it as soon as possible, even if it feels minor.
If damage goes beyond fair wear and tear, you may be responsible for the repair or replacement cost. This can include broken furniture, damaged walls, stains, missing items or damage caused by guests.
If something is damaged accidentally, tell reception or log it through the Scape app as soon as you can. Reporting damage early is always better than waiting until check-out, as the team can advise what happens next and arrange any repair needed.
If you are unsure whether something counts as damage or fair wear and tear, ask reception for guidance.
